Progress continues at a rapid pace on two new buildings slated to open later this year. A 100,000-square-foot addition to the Washkewicz College of Engineering will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for next-generation engineers. The new structure is at East 24th Street and Chester Avenue. A few blocks away, on Payne Avenue, construction of the first-ever dedicated facility for Campus International School (CIS) is well underway. The school will house 720 youngsters in kindergarten through eighth grade. CIS is a collaboration between CSU and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

CSU’s Ohio Nu chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon is officially back in business and is the largest fraternity on campus

Ohio Nu was established in 1964 at the newly created Cleveland State University and was headquartered in a 100-year-old mansion on East 36th Street. During the 1980s, with student interest in Greek life declining, the fraternity house was sold, and the Ohio Nu chapter was closed in 1990. Since 2013, students and SigEp brothers have been working to recharter the Ohio Nu chapter. Instrumental in the successful rechartering effort were alumni Dave Huiett, BME ’66, the first Ohio Nu chapter president, and Bill Schutte, BBA ’71, president of the Ohio Nu Alumni & Volunteer Corporation. From their student days until the present, both have promoted Greek life on campus. Nearly 200 SigEp undergrads and alumni, as well as parents, friends and officials from CSU and SigEp headquarters, attended the chartering banquet in CSU’s Student Center.
