New deans named to lead newly formed colleges
With the announcement of CSU’s reimagined colleges comes news of two new faces and a familiar one who will take the helm at each.
College of Arts and Sciences
Andrew Kersten, Ph.D., is the inaugural dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Dr. Kersten, a U.S. historian, served as dean of University of Missouri-St. Louis’ College of Arts and Sciences since 2018. Under his leadership, the college became an engine for growth, while adding 40 new faculty and launching several interdisciplinary degree and certificate programs.
Previously, he was dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Idaho. Additionally, he was a faculty member, department chair and associate provost at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. As a faculty member, he taught courses in U.S. history as well as the interdisciplinary program, Democracy and Justice Studies.
College of Health
Stephanie Brooks, Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT is the inaugural dean of the new College of Health.
Throughout her 27 years at Drexel University, Dr. Brooks held numerous administrative positions in the Departments of Couple and Family Therapy and Counseling and Family Therapy as department chair, clinical director of training and director for the Couple and Family Therapy PhD program. Prior to Drexel, she worked as a clinical director in outpatient psychiatry and as a social worker on the psychiatric consultation liaison team.
From 2015-2020 she served as the executive program consultant for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services American Association for the Marriage and Family Therapy Minority Fellowship master and doctoral programs.
College of Education and Public Affairs
Roland Anglin, Ph.D., former dean of the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs will serve as the inaugural dean of the new College of Education and Public Affairs. He led the Levin College and before that enjoyed a long career focused on urban and metropolitan affairs at Rutgers University-Newark.
Sajit Zachariah, Ph.D., former dean of the College of Education and Human Services will serve as senior advisor to Dean Anglin and the newly configured college. He will also help launch an expansive model of distance/online learning and urban competitiveness.
